We are not aliens, we are human beings whose descendants flourished in parts of this country centuries, millennial before there was ever such thing as a a United States of America. For many of our people, the saying “We didn’t cross the border, the border crossed upholds true.
\nWe remember the history of war and lynching in Tejas, the US invasion of the Mexican capital and seizure of half of the country at the points of rifles. We remember countless coup d stats and assassinations of populist governments and leaders throughout the hemisphere. We remember. And we see history repeating itself now in Gran Bolivia. Yet we are the violent ones? We are the problem?
\nWe are not the problem, and for those who point their fingers and say otherwise, there are for some many more fingers pointing back, while for others we plea for education rather than ignorance, compassion rather than scapegoating, dialogue instead of insults and warm embrace rather than the shake of a fist–these are consistent with the solution, if it is to be long-lasting and good. Otherwise, we risk the culmination of tribalism, which is genocide, which is the ugliest and darkest side of the human race.
\nState sponsored genocide unfolds in three stages. First is dehumanizing rhetoric, then the institutionaluzation of that rhetoric in the form of state policy, coupled with domestic repression and in this case, roundup of the other by the state apparatus, while at the same time the Prison-Homeland Security-Industrial Complex is expanded to accommodate increased oppression of that other. Sound familiar?
\nWhile I may have been duped for a moment in time by Trumps deception and charisma, I see now more clearly than ever what is transpiring, and what his interests truly are, and I am disgusted. What’s worse is how many he has deceived. I would not want to be him on the Day of Judgement.<\/p>\n
You don’t see many Latinos in the US panhandling, but you most certainly see us on your local block and in the Barrio with ice cream trucks, taco and tamale stands, selling elote and flowers, collecting recyclables and wooden palettes, and so many other side hustles. Our people are business minded, and hard workers. And yet all we hear of is being a drain on the taxpayer, taking all the handouts. Well then, offer citizenship, apply taxes, provide access to real careers vs under the table work, provide ability to purchase Healthcare and auto insurance, to invest in the market and to contribute outside of the shadows. Isn’t this logical? Even Reagan recognized this, and passed the 1986 Amnesty Act. Reagan is still heralded by the Right as one of the 3 best Republican presidents of all time. And yet they have deviated so far to the extreme, that anyone who suggests this in this day and age is deemed a traitor and a fool. Just goes to show how ideology can overshadow humanity and reason.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Contrary to today’s popular stereotypes, broadcasted especially by Trump and the far Right, Mexicans, Central and South Americans, and Carribean people’s are a resourceful, hardworking, resilient, and warm people.
