The reflection I see is the image they wish I’d hate,<\/p>\n
Brown skin, high cheekbones, wide nose, full beard,<\/p>\n
The languages of my ancestors, and Spanish, they wish I’d never speak,<\/p>\n
the religion of Islam, they wish I’d never found, and would never practice,<\/p>\n
The politics of resistence to Empire-to them–they wish I’d never believe in,<\/p>\n
The heroes with whom I identify, whom they have always vilified,<\/p>\n
The villains whom I despise, who deceive the multitude into believing they’ve never existed,<\/p>\n
They take with their hands, deceive with their tongues, bribe with their proverbial carrots, and beat with their sticks,<\/p>\n
Oh wicked masters! Oh vicious tyrants! Den of jackals! Brood of vipers!<\/p>\n
Judgement awaits them–and woe to the wicked and those who serve them knowingly,<\/p>\n
And blessed are the martyrs, and the persecuted, and the exploited, and the upright,<\/p>\n
The meek who shall inherit the earth, the righteous who will enjoy mansions on top of gardens, under which rivers flow,<\/p>\n
These will eat the best of fruits ad drink the best of drinks, neither because of need nor for intoxication or gluttony,<\/p>\n
