You don’t see many Latinos in the US panhandling, but you most certainly see us on your local block and in the Barrio with ice cream trucks, taco and tamale stands, selling elote and flowers, collecting recyclables and wooden paletas, and so many other side hustles. Our people are business-minded, and hard workers. And yet all we hear is being a drain on the taxpayer, taking all the handouts. Well then, offer citizenship, apply taxes, provide access to real careers vs under the table work, provide ability to purchase Healthcare and auto insurance, to invest in the market and to contribute outside of the shadows. Isn’t this logical? Even Reagan recognized this and passed the 1986 Amnesty Act. Reagan is still heralded by the Right as one of the 3 best Republican presidents of all time. And yet they have deviated so far to the extreme that anyone who suggests this in this day and age is deemed a traitor and a fool. Just goes to show how ideology can overshadow humanity and reason.<\/p>\n
