So now, Cuba is in the crosshair of US Imperialism. Yesterday’s announcement by Trump to apply tariffs and/or sanctions on any country that sends oil to Cuba, as is their sovereign right under international law and order, and basic common sense, forebodes a terrible tragedy in modern human history. This could become the new Gaza.
It is obvious why Cuba is the next target on the imperial hit list. It is a non-aligned, Socialist State, 75 miles off Florida’s coast. Its only sin is its difference in political ideology and practice. It is obviously not a geopolitical threat. Just an embarrassment for Washington. And it is the most vulnerable of all the most significant non-aligned states. Its vulnerability is primarily in its geography, namely being a literal island, and its lack of domestic resources necessary for autonomous domestic production of any major industry outside of agriculture. And after 80 years of a US imposed blockade and embargo, it has always remained precariously dependent on foreign imports of most everything, particularly oil and gas, which are of course the lifeline of any modern society.
To deny a country of 10 million any access to fuel, and any other resource which is necessary for survival, is both an act of war and one that is consistent with the definition of genocide as it is commonly understood, both in international law and by laymen.
This must not stand in the court of public opinion, nor in the real US and international justice systems.
May Allah protect and help the people of Cuba! A proud and dignified people. A defiant people. Defiant to the death, if necessary, in defense of the patria, and of the ideals of freedom, justice, equality of opportunity, and true progress!
