There Is But One God – A Reflection on Theology and Truth

The more that I scrutinize the Evangelical Christian theology and religion, the less it makes sense.
There is no God but Allah. Allah does not resemble any of the creations. Nor has He any partners. Nor has he begotten sons or daughters. He exists without a place, or a body. He sees all without an eye, hears all without an ear, speaks without a tongue, and surely no man could ever behold His majesty. Remember the story of Prophet Moses, peace be upon him, and how he was blinded by the burning bush. And that was but a glimpse of The Lord. This is the essence of God, powerful beyond fathomability

Islam is the religion of all the prophets, if they were authentic, from Prophet Adam, to Prophet Noah, and Prophet Abraham, Prophet Jesus, peace be upon them all, and culminating with the last and best of the Prophets and Messengers, Prophet Mohammed, Peace be upon him, and may Allah elevate his rank.

As for the notion of the divinity of Prophet Jesus. Peace be upon him, it is easily debunked by both reason as well as history.

As per history, we must isolate the moment in time in which this notion, that Jesus was God incarnate, was first announced. Was that what Prophet Jesus, Peace be upon him, professed?. Was that what the early Christian church believed, before institutions, when it still consisted of the congregation, those who lived alongside Prophet Jesus, peace be upon him, as well as the second generation, third generation and so forth, up until the official sanctioning of the concept of The Trinity as Orthodoxy by the Council of Nicea?

The Council of Nicea, summoned at the behest of the Roman Emperor Constantine, was tasked with putting an end to the congregation of the early church, and institutionalizing a formal statement on the debated question of the divinity of Jesus. This Council, composed of Roman statesmen, would be the origins of the Roman Catholic Church. And with it, the concept of The Trinity was officially established, and propagated by The Vatican. Always remember, Christians, that it was the Roman Catholic Church which held a monopoly on the religion long before Protestantism was born in Germany 1200 years later.

As both a Muslim and a student of history, I have no doubts that the Bible has been corrupted, both in terms of its compilation, translations, and interpretation by the religious elite throughout history. But for the sake of argument, let’s just address at face value the idea that the Prophet Jesus, peace be upon him, could ever have been God Almighty incarnate.

According to the Bible, the Prophet Jesus, peace be upon him, was born to a Virgin Mother. No Christian would dispute this. But isn’t one of the characteristics of God that He never is, nor was born? God existed eternally before the creation. Christians now would cite John Chapter 1 Verse 1–“that the word existed before the creation. And the word was with God, and the word was God”. But that is not logical. God cannot be reduced to the word, that is a creation of Allah, not the sum of his essence. Birth is an attribute of The creation. Even a miraculous birth is a birth. We Muslims believe in the miraculous birth, but recognize that men are born of their mothers–not God. This idea is obviously blasphemous to the one with sober eyes. Then you consider the condition of a baby: completely dependent, unable to control his faculties, requiring food and drink, and the idea appears all the more absurd.

And how could God Almighty ever die? We are told in the Bible that Prophet Jesus was martyred, which we Muslims reject, although we do agree that he was ascended into heaven and will come back one day soon. But if God is All Mighty, if God is eternal, if God is immortal–which He absolutely is, then according to what logic could death ever overtake him in any way, even if only for an instance? That would imply that God was vulnerable to death? That would imply that, in a vacuum of a living, All Mighty God, all of Creation, the entire universe, the heavens even, would’ve been subject to something other than God–and this again is obvious blasphemy!

Furthermore,, according to the Bible, did not the Prophet Jesus last words include, “Into YOUR Hands I commit my spirit”. If the Prophet Jesus identified as God Almighty, then why would he say this? Who was he speaking to? And who did he seek forgiveness from on behalf of his executioners, when he prayed, “forgive them for they know not what they do”? The answer is God, whose name in Arabic is Allah, whose name in the Aramaic language of Prophet Jesus is Allaoim.

And, according to the Bible, did not Jesus pray and teach his disciples to pray? Prayer is an act of worship, performed by the creations, for the sake of God. Is it not, by definition? So then by what logic does God pray? And to whom would God pray? God is God. If as a man I prayed to myself, how absurd would that be? How much more so then for God.

The Bible, as it is presented to us, says that Jesus was tempted by Shayton in the desert while fasting. First let me say that fasting is another act of worship, performed by the creations for the sake of Allah. God Almighty is beyond fasting, as God is not dependent on sustenance as we are, so what sacrifice would it entail, if Jesus were God Almighty, to fast? By that same standard, how could God be dependent on food and drink. And the involuntary need to eliminate waste? To pass gas. May Allah forgive me for even having to say.

But to the other point, that Jesus was tempted by Shayton. Well now how could this ever be, if Jesus were God? How could God ever be “tempted” by evil. Evil shudders in the presence of God. God is far above any influence or temptation of any kind, much less evil. Again, these are characteristics of THE CREATIONS of Allah, Subhan Ta ‘Ala.

One last point I’ll make is the quote by Jesus, often spoken of, “May YOUR will be done, not mine”. Again, a prayer, by a man, to God. Again, a distinction between the man. And The Creator. To whose will would God refer to, if there is but One whose Will is Almighty?

There is but ONE GOD!

These are things worth considering, and reconsidering, are they not? I would argue that they certainly require more attention in thought and dialogue, in what should be our life-long pursuit of TRUTH and its offspring, wisdom.
